That happens with any dipolar solvent. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methanol The oxidation can be reduce with temp.proof copper paste.Primus has some concern that carbon monoxide could be created when alcohol is not burnt correctly, which I cannot confirm.. On the long term: stay at the gas-fuel!
